====== Death and recovery rates ======

Once an individual is infected $I$ (whether hospitalized or not) the following transitions can occur to them:
\begin{eqnarray}
I & \xrightarrow{\rho}   & R  & \text{(recovery)} \\
I & \xrightarrow{\delta} & D. & \text{(death)}
\end{eqnarray}

We don't know what the transition rates should be. But we do have data on the expected survival time and case fatality rates.

===== Hospitalization =====

In this model hospitalization affects the rates of hospitalization $\phi$, recovery $\rho$ and death $\delta$. We're just interested in the outcome for the focal infected individual at this point so we can disregard the hospitalization rate.
